London Trip

Updated: Dec 10, 2019

On Tuesday 19th November we went on a trip to London in which we looked at the Tate Modern and The Imperial War Museum.

Here is a picture that I took while we were on our way to the Tate Modern. I boosted the contrast and reduced the index number (reducing the amount of colours used to make the image). In doing I think you loose the perception of depth and distance in the image.

I also tried to just increase the saturation and decrease the vibrance slightly to make the image more pleasing to look at compared to its original aesthetic.

I wanted to try and use the technique of reducing the index colours again. Once again I boosted the contrast and vibrance to make the image have more bold and distinct colours. I'm glad that I have started to experiment with this technique as I think this would work well in the Propaganda project.

This image was taken on the balcony of the Tate Modern of the Millennium Bridge.

This is one of my favourite pictures that I got to take at the Tate Modern, it was of the London skyline. Once again I reduced the index colour and managed to get this really nice colour scheme of blues and beige. I think the colours really compliment each other.

Here is a photograph I took from within the Tate Modern of a statue within the centre of the building.

Here is another example of a photo I took while on the balcony of the Tate Modern. I saw a building that was a vibrant orange. I thought I would try turning the focus off of automatic so I could experiment freely. Once I had decided how I was going to take a photo of this building I ended up keeping only the barrier in focus.

Even though the orange building is not in focus I believe it is the subconscious focal point of the image.

This is a photo that I took outside of the the Imperial War Museum with the original on the right and edited on the left. There was already a strong blue tint throughout the original artwork so I knew the it would work well when I reduced its index colour.

Due to the imaging containing very similar hues it had a stylised look that is usually seen in propaganda or posters as it uses block colours.
