Circus Performance

Updated: Dec 10, 2019

Before the performance-

When taking photographs of before the performance I wanted to capture the circus as if it was lifeless without its acts. That's why I chose to take several of my photographs in monochrome so that there was the sense of it being empty and bland without the Ring Master and the acts.

In the first photograph, I found a top hat by the edge of the ring. Seeing it was quite a solemn sight as it was something you expected to see with a performer, without it's other half the scene seemed melancholy.

Although several of my photos became corrupted when exporting them, I chose to include it still, so I would remember in the future to make sure that I do not interrupt the exporting process in the future.

I very much enjoyed taking photos of the different stars found around the inside of the circus. One of the photos in particular that I like, is the last one that has Daniel standing to the right of the star. In this photo I managed to get the lighting from the star to reflect off of Daniel's face really nicely producing almost a highlighted outline around him.

During the performance-

During the performance I struggled to find some of the right settings on my camera as I wasn't using one that I could rent out from the store. My camera doesn't have as many capabilities as the Canon 700D, so in future I will make sure to be using rented cameras from the store.

Some of the photos are blurred due to the camera I was using, although I did manage to get some photos that I am very proud of. I think that some of the best photos were of the contortionist and the group of dancers in red and white.
