3D Paper Workshop

Today we looked at working in 3D, manipulating card and paper into different 3 dimensional forms. We worked with tracing paper to transfer our designs from paper to card. I experimented with creating shaped out of the white card and different methods of folder with the orange card.

From experimenting with the white card I learnt that I liked the idea of cutting out vector-graphic shapes to create an overall image, in this case it was a turtle. I also liked the design of having the top of the card to look like waves, if I am going to use this in the final pamphlet then I would like to experiment with it further so that it looks neat and professional, with the wave height and frequency calculated so that they do not overlap with the folds.

With the orange card I learnt different methods of folding the pamphlet into a pocket size package. I made a cutout that was simply a square, this represented the turtle cutout that I had made on the white card. I was playing about with the idea of having an image printed out on one side of the paper and when folder correctly it would fill in the gaps of the cutout.

Here are some images showing the work that I did:

I think that this has given me some ideas for what I'm going to do for my pamphlet and I am excited to start working on it.
