Global Issues

Updated: Jan 5, 2020

I found 10 issues that I am most passionate about. These issues are then examples of topics that I could use in my propaganda project.

Here are my 10 choices-

-Lack of human rights

-Lack of education

-Air pollution

-Government corruption / selfish behaviour

-Lack of power and protection for the police

-Global Warming

-Privacy

-Lack of funding to the NHS

-Age discrimination

-Racism

My most passionate topic out of these would be the corruption within Governments around the globe, and the lack of selfless people in our world. There are many members of the government from different institutions around the globe that lie and manipulate information to protect themselves from scrutiny and blame. Some with political power use lies to gain them a political advantage.

An example of this from our own Government, was when Twitter "accused the Conservatives of misleading the public after they rebranded one of their official party accounts to make it look like a factchecking service during the ITV leaders’ debate." - The Guardian. The account's name was changed to one of a trustworthy fact checking account to discredit opposing parties.

Many people with authority around the globe use their power for personal gain and because of it innocent people suffer.

Another example of manipulation by the Conservative party took place only a few days later, when they created a fake Labour manifesto that appeared at the top of the results page on google when searching "Labour". This just causes the people of Britain to lose trust in the people running their country.

I found 4 images that I believe well depict Government Corruption:

The message of this image is that the Government have the power to do and take whatever they want, from whoever the want, and it is deemed 'Business'. If the people being 'robbed' respond with anything that isn't corporative behaviour then they are criminals and 'violent'. I believe this poster is trying to send out the message that the government can't do whatever they want to the people of their country and that the people should have a say in what they want.
