Later on today we will be having a debate on the topic that we have chosen in groups. The members of my group all decided that we would choose the topic of climate change as it is very relevant in the world at the moment.
When being briefed on this topic Gabi made it clear that the most effective way to convince someone to agree with you is to understand their perspective and understand why they believe what they do. That is why when researching the topic of climate change to be ready for the debate I am going to research both sides of the debate so I have the greatest chance of persuading the opposition.
Climate Change is REAL:
-Green house gases are produced by burning fossil fuels in factories. These Green house gases exist within the atmosphere of our planet absorbing and reflecting the heat coming from the sun, heating the Earth. The more Green house gases we produce, the more the Earth will heat up - affecting Global Warming.
-The forrest fires seen in Australia are annual events, however global warming is affecting these fires; increasing their intensity. For example the forrest fires that are taking place in Australia currently, are much more powerful and intense than the previous ones seen, this is due to the affects of global warming.
Climate Change is FAKE:
-Some believe 'climate change' is a part of a natural cycle and that we have nothing to worry about.
-Some people don't care because it hasn't started to affect them yet.
-There are some very extreme beliefs that climate change should take place to rid the Earth of us humans, allowing for it's ecosystem to reset.
-There are businessmen who sell oil and make millions of dollars and pounds. These businessmen wouldn't make as much money if renewable energy sources were used as an eco-friendly method of producing energy. Due to this they try to discredit public figures who try to spread awareness about climate change.
