Storyboard test

This is a small compilation of some of the photos I had taken and was considering to use in my storyboard and future work. The amount of images I had taken was not equal to the amount of scenes that I wanted to make so in some situations I had to improvise and plan ahead for what locations I wanted to create digitally. When I had taken the photos I wasn't thinking about using them for a storyboard originally, but I was able to use them as inspiration for further work.

I created a really basic and fast storyboard for my initial idea but I plan to redo this after I explore more options and techniques in the upcoming week. I had used several of the images that I had previously taken as scenes within my first storyboard, this was because I liked the use of perspective and form in these select images.

I gave some basic thought into the transitions that I could use and ended up going for simple for the moment. At the moment I am thinking about using a simple slow fade between cuts so that I can hopefully produce a melodramatic and lonely atmosphere and effect.

Upon looking back at the story board I made with my first impressions it doesn't provide any context to who or what the character is doing or why they are walking into and then through a building, so tomorrow I am going to do a second attempt at a storyboard and see if I can refine the content as well as create some sort of prologue to provide some context to the video. I could add a few cuts or scenes of this character scavenging in this new apocalyptic world to give meaning behind their travel.

I took inspiration from this video when researching concepts, designs and the specific software needed. This is the video below:

I know that this quality is not something I can achieve due to software and hardware limitations but it did help me get a good grasp on what sort of theme and atmosphere I wanted to work towards.

I would also like to use this image that I edit as inspiration as well as reference within my short film (possible create something very similar for the last clip in the film):
